AI Answering Machine: FAQ

FAQ

AI Answering Machine will be available for iOS in early 2019.

  1. Download AI Answering Machine from the Play Store.
  2. Sign In: You can log in with a Google account, or sign up for an account with over.ai by entering your email and creating a password.
  3. Enter your name. Omega will use your name when speaking to you and when greeting callers.
  4. You will be asked to allow phone call access — this gives Omega permissions necessary to answer your phone. If you deny this, the application will not function properly.
  5. Enter your phone number — you will receive an SMS with a verification code, enter it.
  6. You will be asked to allow AI Answering Machine to send and view SMS messages.
  7. You will be asked to allow access to your phone’s contacts. Within the application, your messages will be sorted by contact, so allow this to have an organized inbox.

When you open the application for the first time, you will have an option to sign up for an over.ai account, or to sign in using a Google account. If you are having trouble signing up for an over.ai account, please contact support@over.ai.

When you use the application for the first time, you will be asked to enable call forwarding to your virtual phone number. You must enable at least one of the three cases so that the application will work properly and Omega will be able to answer your phone. You may adjust these at any time in the Virtual Number preferences within the Telephony Settings. The three options are:

  1. Busy: Omega will answer when you decline a call.
  2. Not Answered: Omega will answer when you don’t pick up the phone, after ringing has completed.
  3. Out of Reach: Omega will answer if your phone is off or out of service.

You can disable one or all of the three call forwarding options at any time from within the app.

  1. Go to Settings in the bottom right.
  2. Tap on Virtual Number, in the Telephony section.
  3. Toggle the settings to your preference.

If you delete the app from your phone while Omega is enabled, call forwarding will be automatically disabled. You can check this in your phone’s Call Forwarding Settings, or by turning your phone off and calling your number from a different phone.

Once Omega’s real time call screening has completed and the phone call is disconnected, transcriptions are instantly transferred to your Inbox. Transcriptions are converted to messages, which includes your caller’s message to you, the date and time of the call, and a full recording of the conversation.

If you gave the app permission to access your contacts, your messages will automatically be grouped by contact. You can also use the filter to sort by Unheard or Starred messages.
